Let's talk about Flex, AIR, ActionScript, ColdFusion and more

Too many bugs! Is there Quality Management in Adobe?

Recently, I've had to customize the AdvancedDataGrid in a project. Then I've found these BASIC bugs.

AdvancedDataGrid doesn't scroll automatically on dragging
By pressing F2 key, non-editable cells turn to edit mode.
The moved data is not dragged data if selection is changed by arrow key / page up/down key on dragging
When we drag a editable cell, a wrong row is selected after we drop the row.
On Drag/Drop, ListEvent.CHANGE with wrong information is fired
When selectionMode is cell, ListEvent.CHANGE event is always fired at KeyDown though the selection is not changed.
After selectedIndices was updated, it can not be selected with ShiftKey
itemEditor focus is not in the right place
When I drags a row over AdvancedDataGrid header, drop indicator shows at the last visible row
it dispatches ListEvent.CHANGE by pressing F2/SPACE key on editable cell (renderer)
The copied row by drag&drop with Ctrl key is highlighted when mouse rolls over the original row.
The value of selectedCells are different between ctrl selection and shift selection.
Can't drop the row to the bottom
The dropped row is not selected after drag&drop
selection doesn't clear completely
the cell caret doesn't move on vertical scroll
some selected cells with Ctrl key is not cleared when I click a cell
ListEvent.CHANGE is always dispatched if selectionMode is singleCell
selection indicator doesn't clear completely on page down/up

Do you believe these so many bugs?!

Have you checked the committed source, Adobe?
Is there any quality management? Just believe developers. And the committed source is equal with real release!? Or because too many employees had been laid off? Or because of open source?

Even if Adobe has any excuse, this low quality is not permitted. Adobe, you better think real quality management and should develop flash quality management software instead of FlexUNIT and QTP.

Because the product is such a quality, Steven sniffs!!

Gregor's Gravatar The ADG wasn't written by the North America SDK team. They've pretty much disowned that code!

JabbyPanda's Gravatar Just avoid using AdvancedDataGrid, do not believe marketing crap from Adobe that this component deserves to become a part of 'official' Adobe Flex SDK.

This component gets too little attention both from Adobe product management and from developers fixing found issues by community :(

Just look at this link http://bit.ly/aBfkBP, 99% of found issues are assigned to development lead Srinivas Annam and there is no movement at all.
